Family News Prayer

Dear Friends,

On April 9th Adam and colleague Laura both ran the first ever Mostar Half Marathon. Laura came in at 2hours 9mins and Adam at 2 hours 29 mins. It was a great day, and wonderful to see many of our church family come down and cheer them on.

Praise God for initiatives like this that bring much needed positive attention and tourists to the town. Also that both Adam and Laura finished, in just under their targets times.

Hadassah had a high speed fall from her bike and knocked her head, she was kept in hospital a couple of nights for observation but was thankfully fine and able to take part in her dance competition a few days later. They did really well and all the little ones got medals.

Praise God that he protected Hadassah from more serious injury and kept her spirits up whilst in hospital.

Sadly our reapplication for our long term residents permit was again rejected. So we have just applied for our next yearly one instead. This should be routine but it’s hard to be confident of that.

Please pray that we would receive our yearly permits quickly and that God would guide us clearly as to the way forward for us to be able to obtain a more secure status here.

Recently the middle daughter of our good friends next door celebrated her first Communion. We were privileged to be included in the large family celebration. They turned their garage into a seating area and we had lots of wonderful local dishes. Then our neighbour and his brother started playing the guitar and singing local songs with others joining in as they could. After about 5 hours of relaxed entertainment and too much food we finally left but they kept going.

Our elderly neighbour, Baba Zora, recently had a hip replacement operation after many years of pain. She had put off the operation as they live off the food she grows and she was concerned about being unable to work the garden.

Praise God for how much we continue to be made a part of this community. Also please pray that Baba Zora makes a speedy

and good recovery. And is soon able to work in her vegetable garden again.

This time of year is also about getting the most out your garden. Izak decided to help Adam plant a Palm tree that had been given to us by our good friend Cory. With the rain and sun shine plants group fast including the weeds!

The business venture in Tourism in BiH that Adam and others are looking into to generate employment in BiH is moving forward at a steady pace. BiH has so much to offer various kinds of industries if only there was a common political will to make it happen. We thank God that in BiH there are those who refuse to given up hope that things will change for the better for the majority.

At the beginning of May Adam went on the NoviMost retreat (the children and I did not attend this year) on the coast of Croatia. Adam had a really good time of recovery and refocusing for the time ahead.

Praise God for this time of relaxation and teaching.

At the end of May both Ezekiel and Micah have trips away with school. Ezekiel to Croatia for 2 nights and Micah to Croatia and Montenegro for 3 nights. Micah finishes Primary school on 8th June (the transition here is at 14 years old) and must then apply for High school.

Please pray that they have a fun and safe time on their trips. Also for Micah as he makes this transition, and for good decisions as he chooses his next school.

This past Saturday Tragedy hit our small part of the world. Just a few 100 metres from our house a small aircraft crash landed killing all 5 people on board. The pilot, a teenager and 3 children aged 7-10. All from Mostar. And on the same day there was a fatal car crash in which 2 young people died. The mayor of Mostar has declared a day of mourning for those affected.

Please pray for the families and friends of all those involved.

Love and God Bless Adam, Rachel, Micah, Talitha, Ezekiel, Hadassah and Izak.
